NELI works closely with its National Advisory Board, comprised of distinguished employment law practitioners who play an active role in planning our activities and providing our services.
Our organization was founded by John P. Fischer, Esq., in San Diego, California in 1976, filling a need for continuing legal education in the newly developing area of equal employment opportunity law. The original focus was on EEO, but this quickly expanded to address all of the other areas of employment law, from traditional labor to wage and hour issues to affirmative action.
We now address the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Rehabilitation Act, Recruitment, Testing, Evaluation, Reductions-in-Force, Harassment, Retaliation, Privacy, Electronic Workplace Issues -- virtually every aspect of employment law and the employment relationship.
Our programs are all taught at an advanced level, addressing the most recent changes in the law and the application of these changes to employment practices. We are proud of our reputation as the premier provider of continuing legal and professional education (CLE and CEU) in this subject area.
Those who typically attend include senior human resource professionals, equal employment and affirmative action managers, attorneys with law firms and who serve as in-house counsel, labor leaders, and other business professionals. Thousands of private sector businesses are regularly represented at our programs, as are government officials from virtually every state, many cities, counties and special districts, and virtually every department of the Federal Government.
